Does it really matter if you use your phone during a fashion show?
Sitting front row you get it all; the look, the models,
the floor, the colors, and the cameras. You can see the models walk straight,
hear the music more clearly, watch the lights perfectly, catch the eyes across
from you in sight, and learn a thing or two about who sits where. When you sit
front row you’re more then there to just take a seat and look pretty. Some are
there to make appearances, some get lucky with tickets, while others are there
because they have a say and an opinion in fashion that matters.
I have noticed depending what show it is there will be
different people sitting front row. You can always tell the important people
from the ones that aren’t so important and the more you go to shows you’ll
recognize their faces more and more. You may even recognize them by facial
expressions, some make the same mean look, while others keep it cool casual
with a strong high end poker face. I guess the fashion industry requires those
when you don’t want to be disturbed before a show.
Sometimes I wonder, does it really matter if you use your
phone during a fashion show? I have discovered a few blocks with rows such as
Vogue, People StyleWatch, bloggers, writers, and more some feel the need to
post on social media while others wait till later to let people know about the
show. Let me take a guess. If you’re posting a photo of you during Ralph
Laurens fashion show to your Instagram does this make a point to all your
friends that you’re here? Or does it just make a point that you like what you’re
seeing? But what if you wait till later? Maybe you feel you don’t need to post
something on your social media because you have an opinion that matters and can
wait till later for Vogue Magazine to write about?
These days success comes off with a strong social media
following so most see it a reason to post as much as they can while others post
to share their opinions, insights, or even connected. But overall it really isn’t
a bad thing if you don’t use social media. Some don’t use it to be more exclusive,
but to share their opinion later because they know their opinion is more important
than their dense social media followers. Social media is defiantly a great
thing for fashion and the industry, especially for designers. It’s free
advertising and their name goes viral in a second. The old days people had to
wait a while or a few months just to see photos of fashion week from the
magazines, now it’s right on the tip of their fingers with their social media
access. So either way, if you’re using it during a show or later on in the day,
thank you social media for being there.
